Artist Statement
In my opinion writing an artist statement is the easiest yet hardest thing to do; I do what I love, and that is from now on mostly taking pictures of beautiful women with my Mamiya RZ67 on black and white film.
It’s the most aesthetically pleasing thing I can do, I want to do and it is as simple as that. Do I try to come up with a meaningful reason, a purpose for my work? All the time!
But have I found one? I’d say not yet, but that might also be partly because there is no better reason. I want to keep the art of film photography alive and people to slow down and experience my analog work in today’s highly digital world.
The one thing that never fails to fascinate me and keeps my fire burning is how you can see the difference between a digital and an analog photograph, it’s so rewarding and real.
You can almost dive into an analog print and this is what I want to share with as many people as possible – especially since we all have to deal with the difficult challenges that AI
has us facing – “what is real and what is not?” Analog photography will be a game changer in the photography world aka going back to the roots, because in case of doubt: here’s the negative!
